Meet Mr. Miller

I grew up in Mankato and attended Franklin Elementary from kindergarten through 6th grade and graduated from East Junior/Senior High School. After high school I attended Mankato State University, which quickly changed to Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Throughout college I coached baseball at Mankato Loyola and taught preschool before I realized that I wanted to become an elementary teacher. I graduated with elementary education (K-6) and middle school math (5-8) degrees. My first teaching job was at New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva (NRHEG) as a high school special education teacher. The following year I was moved into a 2nd grade teaching position. I coached basketball, baseball, and an academic team while there.

This is my ninth year in the Mankato school district (twelfth overall) and I'm very excited to be teaching alongside people that had such a major impact on my life. I only hope that I can return the favor to some of the students I encounter along the way. I have recently completed my Master's Degree in Educational Technology and am also the Varsity Assistant baseball coach at Mankato East.

My wife and I have a 7-year-old son, a 4 1/2-year-old daughter, and a 17-month-old baby boy that like to keep us busy around the house. We also celebrated our ten-year wedding anniversary this summer. We are both huge Twins fans and enjoy going to as many games as possible throughout the year. I also follow the rest of the Minnesota professional sports teams (mainly football and basketball). I enjoy reading, listening to music, watching movies, playing sports, and spending time with my friends and family.

Assuring learning excellence and readiness for a changing world.
